Why Should You Attend

The GRAP/IPSAS Financial Reporting, two-day course provides delegates with detailed and in-depth knowledge of the implementation and financial reporting structures of the Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (GRAP) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) as required of all South African (and international) public sector entities.

The course focuses on the recognition, measurement (both initial and subsequent) and disclosure requirements of these standards, and provides delegates with practical guidance in the preparation and compilation of GRAP/IPSAS compliant annual financial statements.

Delegates will also gain invaluable insights to financial performance cycles and relevant audit processes for public sector departments, entities and municipalities.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the GRAP/IPSAS accounting reporting framework applicable in the period 2025/2026
  • Demonstrate understanding of GRAP measurement bases (historical cost, fair value, amortised cost).
  • Draft a complete set of financial statements (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Financial Performance, Cash Flow, Changes in Net Assets, Notes).
  • Apply GRAP 104 (Financial Instruments), GRAP 17 (Property, Plant & Equipment), GRAP 13 (Leases), and other key standards.
  • Prepare accounting policies and disclosures to the Auditor-General’s satisfaction.
